Norma Ellen (Kasdorf) Kalchik Norma Ellen (Kasdorf) Kalchik was born to John and Susie Kasdorf on June 23, 1926, in Watsonville, California. She was the second of five children. She lost her battle with cancer on December 2, 2012, surrounded by her family. At the age of seventeen, while a USO hostess, she met the love of her life and future husband Tony Kalchik on October 19, 1943, when Tony was stationed at the Heavier Than Air Base in Freedom, California. They were married in Visalia on February 21, 1946, and were happily married for 58 years. She moved with her family from Watsonville to Visalia when her dad went into business with his brother. After moving to Visalia she worked as a telephone operator, at Moore's Miniature Roses, and then at Mineral King Elementary School as a teacher's aide, all the while being a housewife. She was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church. Norma is survived by her children and their families, Mark, Laura, Kenneth and Jeanette Kalchik; Greg, Trudy, Sarah and Anthony Kalchik; Christine, Daren and Paige Richards; Arlene Kalchik; and sisters Elaine McGrew and Betty Mullins. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Francis Kalchik and two daughters, Sue Ellen Kalchik and Barbara Ann Kalchik. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Visalia on December 10, 2012 at 10:00 A.M.
