Paul R. Maxwell

Paul R. Maxwell Paul R. Maxwell was born in Happy, TX June 4, 1931 and went home to Jesus February 2, 2013. Paul was the third child of Virgil and Willie Maxwell. The family moved to California during the dust bowl years, settling in Arvin. He was a 1949 East Bakersfield High School graduate. In 1951 he married his sweetheart, Billie Ballard. After several years of working as a draftsman for Hopper's, Inc., in 1965 he acquired a small machine shop called Hall Machine. Hall Mach Inc. grew and prospered, building oil field equipment and factory systems which included precision machinery. After the close of Hall Mach, Paul's work as an independent contractor took him to a variety of places world wide. His last project took them to Visalia where he worked for JIT until his health forced his retirement. He enjoyed auto racing, both as a driver and sponsor, flying and FSU Bulldog football. He is pre-deceased by his parents, his sisters, Erma and Betty, and brother, Jimmy; sister-in-law, Wanda; brother-in-law, Dr. Richard H. West and father and mother-in-law, Frank and Edna Ballard. He is survived by his bride of 61 years, Billie; children Katherine (Hugh), Deborah (Wayne) and Kenneth; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; brothers, Bill and Jerry, brother-in-law Kenneth (Harriet); sister-in-law, Jerrie and the rest of the Maxwell and Ballard families. Paul loved and cared for his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 16, 2013, 2:30 PM at Parkside Church, 2513 Church Ave., Bakersfield.
