Rickey Stewart

Rickey Stewart Truck Driver Rickey Darnell Stewart was born October 7, 1954 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Lenora Stewart and Larry Thomas Stewart. Rickey grew up in Tulsa and attended school there through junior high. He finished his junior high education at Palo Verde and graduated from Tulare Western High School in 1973. Rickey then joined the United States Navy in 1975. After his enlistment ended, he returned to Visalia, where he met and lived with his children's mother Renee Johnson. Rickey was a hard worker and he was employed by Haagen-Dazs in Tulare for over 10 years. He moved to Santa Rosa, California, in 1997 where then met his wife Nuu Moeai and became a Buddhist. He held various jobs before he eventually began working for Sealy Mattress delivering their products throughout California, Oregon, Arizona and other locations. Rickey was so proud to be a grandpa and has spoiled his grandchildren. He was quite generous and ready to give to anyone in need and a friend to many. Rickey left us unexpectedly on Saturday morning, March 30, 2013, at the age of 58. He leaves to cherish his memories his son DeWayne Stewart and his grandchildren DeWayne Darnell Jr. and daughter Jazmaine Rayne Stewart, and his daughter Shannel Stewart and her son Mahlik William-DaJohn Unear, all of Visalia, along with their mother Renee Oney, her husband his buddy Hank Oney and along with his adopted son Jamal Oney. Also surviving him are his sisters Violetta Smith (John) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Danetta Hooks of Tulare, Madelyn Eastland (Billy) of Bakersfield, California, Elroy Smith (Michelle) of Tulare, Ray Smith (Joyce) of Tulare, Elaine McMillan (Larry) of Tulare and Kenneth Smith (Anna) of Tulare. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and extended family. He leaves also his special Aunt Mag of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and her sons Homer, Johnny and Ed who he spent almost three years with. He was predeceased by his mother Lenora Stewart, his oldest brother Marvin Stewart, and his wife Nuu Moeai. A void has definitely been left in the hearts of those who love and knew him, but we are confident that God does not make mistakes. Rest on Rickey and know that you are already missed, but you will live on in our hearts and our memories. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Private burial.
