Robert Tiemens

Robert Tiemens Robert Tiemens, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 6, 2013. He was 61 years old. He was born in 1951 to Harold and Luverne Tiemens. Bob grew up in Bellflower, California. He attended Bellflower Christian School and graduated from Valley Christian High School. Bob received degrees in education from Calvin College and Michigan State University. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Thelma Klein, on August 14, 1973. They were married for 40 years and were longtime residents of Visalia, California. Bob began his teaching career at Exeter High School in Exeter, California in 1974. After a few years he transferred to Visalia Unified School District where he worked until his retirement in June of 2013. Throughout the years Bob worked with special education students at all of the high schools in Visalia. He was dedicated to helping students with special needs transition into the workforce. He loved his students and it brought him great joy to see them succeed. Bob also volunteered in various school and church organizations throughout the years. One of Bob's greatest joys in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Luverne Tiemens. He is survived by his wife Thelma and his daughter Gina (husband Aaron Ecker and children Sierra and Ethan) of Visalia, California; daughter Amanda (husband Ryan Anderson and children Owen and Logan) of Visalia, California; brother Tim Tiemens of Forestville, California; and sister Mary Kay Wierenga of Cambria, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the or the Special Olympics. Per Bob's request, no public services are planned.
