Violet Arnett

Violet (Vi) Evelyn Arnett CHP Clerk retired Violet Evelyn Arnett was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the age of 93, surrounded by family at her home in Visalia, CA. Violet was born on November 17, 1919 to Frank and Louise (Fuchs) Stewlow in Wells, Minnesota. She was the seventh of eight children. During the Great Depression, when Vi was just 13, the family packed up everything they owned and moved out west, settling in Visalia, CA. Violet graduated from Visalia Union High School in 1938. In 1941, Vi married Beryl Logan of Visalia, and together they had four children: Sharon, Cheryl, Linda and Roger. Beryl passed away in 1966. Vi began work at the California Highway Patrol in 1953. She started as a dispatcher and eventually became a secretary. She served with the CHP for 25 years, and made many wonderful friends during her time there. In 1971 Vi married Carl Arnett, of Visalia. Carl managed the bar and restaurant at the Visalia Country Club. The two enjoyed traveling and spending time with their growing families and grandkids. Carl passed away in 1983. Vi loved to travel. She spent many years traveling the United States with the Visalia Gadabouts. She also loved vacationing with family on the central coast. She enjoyed walking along the beach with her dog and her family, and would often rise early and walk for miles, collecting shells for the grandkids along the way. She was an active member of EV Free Church of Visalia, and enjoyed attending the Bible Breakfast led by Pastor Westbrook. She also spent many years volunteering as a voter precinct official. Vi was always up for a card game, and could spend hours playing Skip-Bo with whomever would play with her. Vi is going to be missed by many, including her children: Sharon Gregory; Tom and Cheryl Jackson; Linda and Phil Kneeland - all of Visalia; Roger and Evelyn Logan of Fresno; and her step-daughter Candi and Dennis Azevedo of Blythe. She also has 10 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild. Services will be held Saturday, January 19 at 9:30 a.m. at Salser and Dillard Funeral Home, located at 127 E. Caldwell. Private burial at Visalia District Cemetery.
