Alberta Townsend "Our Beloved Mother" Alberta Frances Townsend, 88, of Visalia, California passed away on Friday, August 11, 2012 at Kaweah Delta Hospital, Visalia. She was so important in our lives and she will be greatly missed. Alberta was born to Albert and Wilhelmina Darlinghaus Stiene in Dayton, Kentucky. Early years with four brothers and one sister were spent in Ohio. The 1940's found the family moving west to Los Angeles after the death of their father, Albert. We would be glued to our seat listening to mom talk about all the beautiful and handsome movie stars...the singing due Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald were her idols. They will never know how much joy she got from their singing and movies. Mom would watch them over and over. Alberta started her family and had twin girls, Sharon and Sharleen. She was a smart and excellent mother who taught her children to take care of themselves and become standup adults. She loved camping in the Sierras and took many a trout from the Kings River. Her second marriage was to Leonard Dwight Townsend (deceased) brought her third daughter, Erica Christine who now resides with her husband, Eric John Mathews in Nevada. Alberta lived most of her life in Southern California. However, her later years brought her to Visalia to be close to her family and reside next door to her daughter, Sharleen and her husband, Gordon and their daughter Darleen Owens. Alberta loved to keep in touch with her dear friends, Judy A. Neals and Dottie Erickson, both of California. She enjoyed Jumble, crossword puzzles, T.C.M. and a little shopping. We grieve for her now but we will have happy times with the memories and love she gave to us. We love her now and forever. Alberta's wishes were to be cremated by Miller Memorial Chapel of Visalia and have a small private family service. Condolences may be offered at www.millerchapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue, Visalia, CA 93291 (559)732-8371.
