Bernice Jones Bernice Thea Jones of Visalia passed away peacefully on July 1, 2013, at the age of 91. Bernice was born in Mobridge, South Dakota, the oldest of 5 children born to Cornelius and Thea Boekhout. She graduated from Philip High School in Philip, SD and married Norman Lamb on May 5, 1946. They had 3 children, Tom, Bruce and Dianne with the family eventually moving to Novato, CA. Norm passed away in 1977. Bernice met Jerry Jones at Sears in Terra Linda, CA where they both worked; they married and enjoyed 20 years together. She was happy to welcome Jerry's family of four children (Phyllis, Marcie, Beverly & Larry) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren into the circle of her love. Bernice moved to Visalia, California in 2000 to be near her daughter. Bernice loved being a housewife and was very active in her church, Good Shepherd Lutheran in Novato and Christ Lutheran in Visalia. She loved to sing, made the best pies and always had the most beautiful roses around. She was very kind and always made a point to remember those in her life with phone calls, greeting cards and visits. She & Jerry loved entertaining especially having family and friends over for a pool party. Bernice was predeceased by her husbands, Norm Lamb and Jerry Jones, and her brother, Ted Boekhout. She is survived by her brothers, Andrew (Neva) Boekhout of Hot Springs, SD and Cornelius (Mickey) Boekhout of Rapid City, SD, her sister Cora (Jim) Coberly of Sterling, CO, her sons Tom (Kathy) Lamb of Jamul, CA and Bruce Lamb of St. Regis, Mt and her daughter Dianne (Pat) Aldrich of Exeter, CA, her grandchildren, Kim Garcia (Herman) of Manning, OR, Airel, Walker & Spencer Lamb of Helena, MT, Megan Mallery & Gabby Reynolds, great-grandchildren Holly & Mitchell Garcia and all the Jones' clan. Many thanks to Denise Slover-Brown, Becky Winters & staff at Premier Memory Care Home for their loving care of Bernice. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, July 5th 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Celebration of Life fund at Christ Lutheran Church.
