Carmen Arroyo Munoz Obituary
Carmen Arroyo Muñoz Carmen Arroyo Muñoz, 93, of Woodlake, California went to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Carmen was the second of thirteen children born in Fresno, California on July 16, 1919 to Cecilio and Flora Muñoz. He was raised and educated in Westwood, California. In the late 30's, Carmen moved to Woodlake. On June 3, 1941 he entered the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, earning a Philippine Liberation Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and American Campaign Medal. He was discharged on December 10, 1945 with a rank of Staff Sergeant and returned to Woodlake. On December 6, 1947 he married Emilia Peña in Visalia at St. Mary's Catholic Church and they celebrated sixty-three years of marriage before she passed away on December 7, 2010. Carmen worked for over twenty years for Tulare County Road Department as a Foreman, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed gardening, working on old cars, carpentry, traveling to Laughlin, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona during winter months. Carmen especially enjoyed times spent with his family. Carmen was also preceded in death by his siblings, John Muñoz, Manuel Muñoz, Senida Muñoz, Tony Muñoz and Josephine Stack. He leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Robert Muñoz of Woodlake, CA and Nancy Renteria of Visalia, CA; four brothers: Henry of Selma, CA, Jesse of San Jose, CA, Paul and Joe, both of Visalia; three sisters: Mary Gutierrez of San Jose, CA, Sarah Gonzalez of Woodlake, CA and Virginia Cota of Tulare, CA; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 8 - 9 a.m. with services beginning at 9 a.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA.
