Charles "Charlie" Boonstra Charles "Charlie" Boonstra of Tulare, passed away August 13, 2013 at the age of 41 at home in the loving arms of his family. He was born in Tulare on October 20, 1971 to Charles and Rhonda Boonstra whom have both preceded him in death. Charlie grew up on his parents dairy in Tulare where he attended Sundale Elementary School. He graduated from Central Valley Christian High School in 1990. As a young man in his 20's Charlie decided to go into the family business and had a dairy of his own for some time. After the dairy he moved back with his mother and got a job at Food 4 Less where he worked for 6 years until she passed away in 2005. When his mother died, Charlie started a whole new chapter in his life. His niece and nephew-in-law Jason and Aubrey Starling of Tulare came to live with him and became family for eight years till his passing. It was at this time Charlie realized his full potential and became a literacy volunteer to adults who were learning English as a second language. He volunteered at the Visalia Adult School, Dinuba Adult Literacy Program and at the Tulare Library in the Read to Succeed Program. He also volunteered his time at Used Treasures in Tulare. Charlie loved his family outings with Jason and Aubrey. The three of them went quad riding, deep sea fishing, camping and hunting, but the favorite trip of all was going out to the desert to mine for gold. Last year Charlie was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He battled very hard through many rounds of chemo and was bound and determined to beat it but at the end his body wouldn't let him battle anymore. Charlie is survived by his family Jason and Aubrey of Tulare; his siblings Ben Boonstra and Barb VanBeek, both of Visalia and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. God broke the mold when he made Charlie; he was the gentlest and most memorable man. His passing has left a rift in the hearts of all who had the honor to have him in their lives. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, 132 W. Kern Ave. with burial following at North Tulare Cemetery, 4462 N. J St.
