Eugene "Gene" M. Ayers Eugene "Gene" M. Ayers passed away May 1, 2012, at the age of 86. Mr. Ayers was a resident of North Fork for 64 years. He was born November 11, 1925 in Little Rock, AR to George and Bessie Ayers. Mr. Ayers served as a Pharmacist's Mate in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a barber for 35 years in North Fork and enjoyed raising horses and cattle. He loved attending Rodeos. Later he opened his own real estate office where he worked as an appraiser and broker. He also worked as an insurance agent for many years in the Mountain Area. Mr. Ayers served two terms as president of the North Fork Chamber of Commerce, was involved with the North Fork Boosters, and was on the Logger's Jamboree committee for many years. He and wife Jeannie were honored as grand marshals of the Logger's Jamboree in 1990. Mr. Ayers was a member of the Masons, Shriners, and Lion's Club. He is survived by wife of 64 years, Jeannie Ayers of North Fork; daughters Barbara Johnson and husband Nick, Tammy Tyler and husband Dean; grandchildren Nicole and Matt Johnson, Justin and Breanna Tyler; and great-grandchild Hayden Tyler; brothers Chuck & John Ayers, and sister Betty Van Gordon. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. May 12, 2012 at Grace Community Church, 56442 Rd 200, North Fork, with a reception to follow in Grace Hall.
