Florence Pauline Spray Florence Pauline Spray, age 80, passed away July 21, 2012 peacefully in her home. Known as Pat to her friends and family, she will be dearly missed. Born in Taduceh, Texas, on an Indian Reservation, her family migrated to California to work in the fields during the Great Depression. She helped pick fruit as a young girl after going to school during the day. She met her future husband, Vernon, while working and he courted her every weekend at the local dances. He traded places driving a truck with a farm worker chopping cotton so he could "woo" his future wife. She helped her husband run their walnut ranch and raise their two daughters. In her later years, she worked for John Wilson Land Leveling, driving all over the valley as a parts runner. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Vernon Spray in 2009.
