G. Scott Benker Attorney G. Scott Benker of Visalia passed away on July 26 after a short but courageous battle with cancer, he was 61 years old. Scott was blessed to work at a job he loved. He was an attorney/mediator for 25 years. He loved helping people and working with Visalia's legal community. Scott was born in Kalispell, MT and grew up in Spokane, WA. He met the love of his life, Jolene, while attending Washington State University. They were married in 1973 in Pullman, WA. Scott worked as a civil engineer for Morrison Knudsen in Boise, ID and for the City of Ogden, UT. Scott was intrigued by the law and attended the University of California, Davis law school. After graduation in 1987, he practiced law in Hanford before opening his own office in Visalia. Scott was an active member of Heart of the Valley Christian Fellowship. He lived his Christian principals in both his personal and professional life and was an example and inspiration for all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vesta Benker. He is survived by his wife, Jolene Benker, of Visalia, father, Rolland Benker, brothers, Dan (Joy) Benker, Jeff Benker, Dave (Jody) Benker, nephew, Joshua Benker of Spokane WA, and extended family in Washington and Montana. Scott's faith, integrity, gentle spirit, kind heart and warm smile will be missed by his family, friends, clients and the legal community. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Heart of the Valley Christian Fellowship at 2800 W. Walnut Ave. in Visalia.
