Gertrude Rebecca Kitchen Gertrude Rebecca Kitchen (nee Holland) passed away on January 27, 2013, in Clovis, California. Known to her friends as Trudy, she was born on August 30th, 1925 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She moved to Bakersfield, California in her youth with her predeceased parents, Archie and Gertrude Holland. She attended and graduated from the University of California in Santa Barbara in 1944. Returning to Bakersfield to teach, she met William H. Kitchen in 1946. They were married in Bakersfield on June 18, 1949. Trudy moved to Visalia, California in 1954 where her husband, Bill, established and operated an automobile dealership, Kitchen Motors. Trudy elected to stay at home and manage the Kitchen household, raising her two sons, John and Larry. Trudy was an excellent cook. She was active in the Visalia Methodist Church and played golf regularly with her family and friends at the Visalia Country Club. She also played bridge regularly with her friends. Trudy is survived by her beloved husband, William Kitchen; her son, John Kitchen; John's wife, Betty Kitchen, and Betty's daughters Crystal Nichols, Nicole Starnes and Rachelle Quaschnick and four grandchildren; her son, Larry Kitchen; Larry's wife, Toniya Villalobos; and Larry's two sons, Peter Kitchen and Ivan Kitchen. The family would like to thank Kaweah Delta Home Care, Jack and Anna Hurley of Apricot Mornings in Clovis and their health care staffs for their heartfelt care of Trudy during the last eight years. A Celebration of Life will be held at Visalia Methodist Church 5200 W. Caldwell Ave. Visalia, CA. 93277 on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
