Harmon Atwater Harmon Reginald Atwater went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the age of 90. He was born on December 2, 1923 in Peel, New Brunswick, Canada. At the young age of 19 Harmon married the love of his life Dawn. Soon after they married he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the 26th Infantry Division and served his country bravely during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. He received a Purple Heart along with a Silver Star. After returning from the war he settled with his family in Mapleton, Maine where they lived for 21 years. Then they moved to East Greenbush, New York, where they lived for 2 years. In 1967, after becoming tired of the brutal winters, they decided to move to California, choosing Tulare as their home. Harmon had a long career at Cain Trucking from 1967-2011. When he wasn't working at Cain's he loved being a farmer tending to his walnut trees. He was a self starter, hard working, successful man, who made lots of friends along the way that he cherished greatly. He will be remembered for the love he gave his family and willingness to help others. He loved telling a good story of the past with lots of details. Harmon leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Dawn Atwater and his four sons, Brian, Lee, Roger and Tracy. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8 pm, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Church of Christ, 500 N.
