Henry Rivera, Jr. March 1962 - July 2013 Henry Diza Rivera Jr., age 51 of Long Beach, CA, died suddenly on July 10, 2013. Henry was born in Dinuba, CA on March 14, 1962 and grew up in the farming community of Cutler-Orosi, California. In 1980, he graduated from Orosi High School as Class President with California Scholastic Honors. Upon graduation, he attended DeVry University in Phoenix, AZ and returned to the valley in 1983 with an Electronics Degree. He later obtained his Masters Degree and pursued his Doctorate. He worked at various companies throughout his career. Most recently he was a Jacob Engineering Consultant at Exxon Mobil. He also taught as a professor at University of Phoenix, California University of Management and Science, and Tuoro University. He had a passion for sharing his experiences and knowledge about his Filipino heritage. He dreamed of living a simple life on the beautiful Island of Luzon, Philippines. Henry was the first of two children of the late Henry and Caroline Rivera. His family was entrenched into the Filipino community and attended many events. Through these events, Henry met Rose Fernandez whom he married after a 1-year courtship. They settled in Long Beach, California where they raised 3 beautiful children. Henry is survived by his loving wife, of 29 years, Rose Rivera, son Matthew, and two daughters Athena and Trianna. He is also survived by his younger sister Cynthia, her husband Dennis and their children, Nathan, Scott, and Nolan. Henry leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, July 21, for viewing from 4pm-6pm, a Rosary from 6pm-7pm, and final viewing from 7pm-8pm. A "Celebration of Life" Mass will be held on Monday, July 22, at 9am. Interment immediately following the Mass. Services will be held at: All Souls Mortuary, 4400 Cherry Ave, Long Beach, CA 90807.
