James "Jimmy" Dodson September 15, 1921 - April 29, 2013 James "Jimmy" Dodson, at the age of 91, left this world for Heaven on April 29, 2013. He was born in Tulare, California on September 15, 1921 to Robert and Bessie Dodson. He was their 5th child out of 10 children. Jimmy attended local schools and Tulare Union High School. He is survived by his wife, Beulah (Garrison) Dodson of Visalia. He is also survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Charles Hansen of Porterville, and Marilyn and Ken Bishop of Shasta Lake. He has 8 grandchildren: Christy Anderberg, Kimberly Barnes, Shaun Banks, Andrea Galal, Joe Gardinier, Jean Rutherford, Paul Rutherford, and Sandy Hull, as well as 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and sister, Ethel Robnett. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Larry Dodson, his daughter, Pat Rutherford, his grandson, Richard Banks, and 6 sisters and 2 brothers. He served in the U.S. Army and the Civilian Conservation Corp during WWll. After the war, he drove trucks for several companies. He retired from Delta Lines in 1976, where he received awards for his professional performance and defensive driving. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, nephews, and friends. He looked forward to family camping trips in the Sierra and riding motorcycles in the desert. He loved to play board games (usually winning) and played them with his wife, daughter, and great grandchildren just a few days before his death. He also loved just talking with friends. Visitation will be held at Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Chapel in Tulare, on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 12-8 PM. Chapel service will take place at Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11 AM. Burial will be at Tulare District Cemetery. Condolences may be emailed to email@example.com
