Joanne (Wilma) Vaughn Reckas February 7, 1931-November 18, 2012 Joanne Reckas, loving Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and friend passed away on November 18, 2012, after a long courageous battle with lymphoma. Joanne was born and raised in Tulare, California. She met her husband, Angelo, while working and attending Fresno State College. Joanne was a homemaker, business woman, and local artist. She and her husband owned and operated Angelo's Bakery and Coffee Shop in Shaver Lake for many years. They later owned and operated The Sawmill restaurant in Shaver Lake until they retired. In her spare time she enjoyed Tole painting, drawing with charcoals, painting with watercolors and creating stained glass windows. One of her windows won a first prize award at the Fresno Fair in the fine arts division. She also loved anything that had to do with Christmas, often setting up displays early and leaving them up well into the New Year. She loved animals and always had a house full of four-legged friends. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo; her daughter, Terry; and her sister, June Moore. She is survived by her children Nicci Johnson of Puyallup, Wa; Jim Reckas and wife Lisa of Coalinga, Ca; Bill Reckas and wife Kay of Pacific Grove, Ca; Becky McConnell and husband Scott of Clyde, Ca; Tykee Reckas of Honolulu, Hi; Ted Reckas and wife Debbie of Auberry Ca. She is also survived by her sister, Joy Augustson and husband Luke of Tulare, Ca. Joanne had 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren that she loved very much. She is also survived by her two beloved Scottie dogs, Scooter and Pepper. Joanne regularly attended and served at Shaver Lake Chapel. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held there on Sunday, December 2, at 2 p.m. The church is located just as you enter Shaver Lake. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made in her name to the Shaver Lake Chapel, Lymphoma Society or to the SPCA.
