Kenneth Byrd Sr. Kenneth Harold Byrd Sr. (Kenny), 69, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Twin Oaks Assisted Living Center in Tulare following a battle with lung disease. Kenny was born in Stigler, Oklahoma on May 5, 1943 to George W. and Iva M. Byrd. He attended Tulare Union High School and graduated in 1961. Those who knew Kenny knew him to be a man of talent. His passion was to create, which is why he excelled for more than 30 years as a skilled carpenter. Kenny's creativity and artistic abilities were reflected in his favorite past times, drawing and music. Some of his children's fondest memories are derived from Kenny sitting with his friends and family playing guitar, an instrument he had a flair for. There is no doubt that Kenny believed his greatest accomplishments in his life were his children. He was proud of his family and enjoyed showing off the photos that adorned his wall at Twin Oaks. Kenny's quirky sense of humor and his infectious smile were characteristics of this kind man that all who knew him will remember fondly. Kenny is survived by his three daughters, Yvette Quinn and her spouse Doyle of Visalia, Nannette Allison and her spouse Richard of Tulare and Melanie Byrd of Tulare, (daughters of Janet Reich); a son, Kevin Byrd; his brothers, Bill Byrd of North Highlands and James Byrd of Tulare; 11 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. Kenny is preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Harold Byrd Jr. (son of Janet Reich); his sister, Geraldine Krepack and his parents, George W. Byrd and Iva M. Byrd-Beckes. A celebration of the life of Kenny Byrd will be held at 2 pm, Monday, January 21, 2013 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, 132 W. Kern Ave, Tulare.
