Maria Ramirez Rodriguez Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away with her children at her bedside on May 14, 2012 at the age of 84. She was born on July 4, 1927 in Coahuila, Mexico. She and our father, Santos Ramirez came to this country nearly 65 years ago, in search of a better life. They raised twelve children in the Tulare area and they have all grown to be successful, God serving and community serving individuals. Our dad passed away in 2001, leaving Maria to guide the family. She was proud of her children, 30 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Mom shared her birthday with our great nation's independence day and was so proud when she became a citizen, that she referred to herself as "Ms. America." Her passion was gardening and could make anything grow, a gift she passed on to all her children. She also enjoyed cooking. Her home was always filled with fun, family, and food. Mom was lucky enough to find love twice in her lifetime, but Jose Rodriquez passed on shortly after. She was a member of the Spanish congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved her church family which helped her through tough times in her life. Our mother spent the final days of her life at Redwood Springs where the skilled nursing staff treated her with dignity and respect. Our family truly appreciates the hospitality they showed us during this time. We were able to spend her last Mother's Day there and they were so accommodating, considering there were so many of us. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Juanita Ramirez and Irene Ramirez. She is survived by her sons, Phillip and Michael of Visalia, son Jesse of Lake Forest, daughters, Aurora Montoya of Clovis, Sylvia Maly of Corbett, Oregon, Yolanda Borges of Tulare, and Grace Jepson, Mary Fulbright, Eva Yukich, and Elaine Villicana of Visalia. Mom was truly the leader of our beautiful family. She has taught us how to love and respect one another and we know that there is no greater gift on Earth than Family. We will miss her terribly and think of her every day until we see her again. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm to 5:00 p.m. at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home, 151 North "H" St. Tulare CA. Graveside service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Tulare District Cemetery, 900 East Kern Ave. Tulare, CA. Arrangements are entrusted to Miller's Tulare Funeral Home.
