Maxine White On Saturday January 12, 2013, Maxine White left this earthly life peacefully, to enter her new life, Beyond the Sunset. Maxine was born in Lexington, Kentucky. Her father was a mining engineer from Moscow, Russia, John Nicholai Orlov and her mother was Mary Alta Taft of Oklahoma. Most of her first 10 years were spent in small coal mining towns in the state of Colorado. She married Lee Warren White in Yuma, Arizona on February 7, 1942. They became the parents of two daughters, before moving to rural Tulare in 1952. Maxine went to work for Canby Plumbing and later for Linder Hardware. From 1956 until 1972, Maxine and Lee owned and operated Foster Freeze in Tulare. After a long day's work at another job, Maxine did the bookkeeping for Foster Freeze. Maxine's last employment was working for Leonard Whitney at Whitco Foods in Visalia as bookkeeper/office manager for over 30 years. Before retiring Maxine experienced open heart surgery and became a member of Tulare County Mended Hearts, where she volunteered for quite a few years as treasurer. She was a member of the Tulare Grange, the Sequoia Genealogical Society, and the Tulare Historical Museum and Tulare City Historical Society, where she was the volunteer recording treasurer for several years. She spent a number of years volunteering at the Tulare District Hospital Education Department. She enjoyed sharing the stories of her life with the Down Memory Lane Writers Group, and preserving her memories and pictures in scrap books. She was also a member of the Visalia United Methodist Church. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Lee White in 1994. She is survived by two daughters, Garyalynn Wilhelm (Willie) of Tulare and Diana Kaylor (Chris) of Porterville; three grandsons, Randy Wilhelm of Colorado, Garrett Lumley of Fort Bragg, California and L. C. Kaylor of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters, Jani Downing (John) of Carlsbad, California and Elissa Lumley of New York City; three great grandchildren, Kevin and Kelsey Downing and Ruby Wilhelm. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Tulare United Methodist Church, 228 W. Kern Ave. with burial at Tulare District Cemetery.
