Raquel "Rachel" Reyes Raquel "Rachel" Delarosa Reyes, of Tipton, passed away on June 7, 2014. She was born on October 8, 1935, the third of seven children, to Nicolas Reyes & Helena DelaRosa Reyes. Rachel, as she was known to family and friends, attended Tipton Elementary School and was a 1953 graduate of Tulare Union High School. Starting in the 1970's Rachel worked as a housekeeper at Terrace Park Convalescent Hospital, in Tulare, until her retirement in 2004. Rachel was raised in Tipton, living there until June 2012, when she then lived in Visalia, under the care of her nephews, Christopher Saenz & Brian Bayless. Rachel enjoyed spending time at family gatherings, particularly if food was involved, with her niece, Rebecca Saenz and nephews, Christopher & Joseph Saenz. She could always be depended upon to bring a fresh green salad which she prepared with preciseness. Her favorite past times included reading People magazine, keeping informed of world events through Good Morning America, and watching Guy Fieri of The Food Network. She was also known to crack a joke now and then to get others laughing. Rachel is survived by her sisters, Mary Torrez of Tulare and Amparo Reyes of La Mesa, CA.; nephews and nieces, Anthony and Sherry Barajas of Fresno, Cynthia and David Mendoza of Tipton, Rebecca Saenz & Richard Michel of Tulare, Jennifer Reyes of Tipton, Christopher Saenz and Brian Bayless of Visalia, Nicolas Saenz of Tipton, Patrick Torrez of Tulare & Joseph Saenz & Rebecca Yeager of Tipton. She also leaves numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. Rachel was preceded in death by her mother, Helena; brother, Jesse DelaRosa Reyes; sister, Arlene Corral; father, Nicolas; niece, Michelle Reyes Rodriguez; and sisters, Margaret Reyes & Rita Saenz. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, particularly those who were so involved in her care over the past two years. A Rosary and Mass will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Tipton with a burial following immediately after at North Tulare Cemetery.
