Rudy Vasquez Sr. Rudy Vasquez Sr. was born to Juan and Rosa Vasquez, in San Gabriel Ca., on June 18, 1924 and went home to be with the LORD August 24th 2012. He peacefully lived his last moments surrounded by his loving family at his home in Goshen. He is preceded in death, by his mother and father, five brothers, Charlie, Benny, Paul, Frank and Johnny Vasquez. One sister Juanita Gonzales and a great-grandson Malikai Reyna-Guiterrez. He is survived by his loving wife Louise, three daughters Rita (Robert) Hernandez, Cathy (Benny) Felix, and Rosie (Florencio) Lopez. Two sons Paul Vasquez, and Rudy Jr. (Maria) Vasquez all of Goshen. 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He attended Redwood High school and later decided to enlist into the U.S. Army at age 17. He was a private first class. He proudly served during World War II in the Philippine Islands. He was wounded and honorably discharged. While his time in service he received various medals including the Purple Heart. After his time in the U.S. army he returned to Goshen, where he met his beautiful wife of which he was married to for 63 years, Louise Flores. He was a very hard worker and handyman. He worked in several Compresses as a Garritt operator totaling 35 years. He then retired from Calcot Compress in Hanford, Ca. He loved sports which led him to play hardball with the Visalia Indians. Later he went on to Coach hardball in Goshen, and he created the team name of the Goshen Eagles. The principal Mrs. Cora Harmon decided to adopt the name for the elementary school so they were named the Goshen Eagles. He loved to play the guitar at the morning mass at St. Thomas parish. He loved it when there were parties at his home because he was surrounded by his family and friends, good food, music, and lots of laughter. The kids always made him laugh even to the end. Visitation will be held Monday, September 3, 2012 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel from 4p.m. to 8p.m. A Rosary will be recited Monday, September 3, 2012 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel at 6p.m. and Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Goshen at 11a.m. with burial at Visalia District Cemetery.
