Ruth Irene Bremer Social Worker Ruth Irene Perez Bremer passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2012, after 89 wonderful years. She was born on June 28, 1923, in Tagus Ranch, CA, to Antonio R. and Alvina Perez. Ruth spent her early childhood years at Tagus Ranch, moving later to Visalia where she helped out at Buena Vista, their family-owned market. She graduated from Visalia Union High School and the College of the Sequoias. Ruth worked for the Tulare County Welfare Department as a social worker/administrator for 34 years. She married Jack Bremer on June 8, 1971. They were married for 12 years until he passed away in 1983. Ruth was a woman of many talents and possessed great leadership skills. Throughout her lifetime, she was very active in St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Sons of Italy, the Grand Jury, the Women's Trade Club, the Catholic Daughters, the Central Valley Region Center, and the Tulare County Legal Secretaries. She dedicated her time to many organizations, including The Good News Center, where she was in charge of scheduling for the kitchen, and the Tulare County Courthouse, where she served at the information desk. She had two great loves in her life: her husband, Jack, and traveling. She traveled for over 40 years, visiting many countries including Israel, Spain, China, and Japan. As she got older, Ruth enjoyed taking walks in her neighborhood and spending time visiting with her neighbors. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles and knitting. She also loved playing Bunko with her many friends. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bremer, her sisters Ophelia Esparza and Carmen Natera, and her brothers William Perez and Thomas (Tommy) Perez. She is survived by her brothers Antonio Perez, Jr. and wife Stella; John A. Perez and wife Rosemary; sister Lucy Stump; sister-in-law Carol Perez; and many nieces and nephews. A public viewing will take place between 4 and 6 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 6 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 608 Church Street on Thursday, November 8. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial at Visalia District Cemetery.
