Stanley Shamoon Obituary

Stanley John Shamoon passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011, with his wife, Sharon Mason Shamoon and children, Stephanie and Adam at his side. Stan was born to Charles and Hazel Shamoon of Reedley, both of Lebanese-American descent. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Greg and baby sister Joan. Stan was born in Reedley, and attended St. La Salle, Grant Middle School and Reedley High School (class of 1970). As a young boy, Stan developed a life-long love of the San Francisco Giants which began with Boy Scout trips to San Francisco games. He participated in many sports throughout his school days and had a strong competitive spirit which he demonstrated on and off the field. His family and friends describe him as a generous, kind, loving man who also enjoyed a good joke and pulling pranks on his family and friends. Stan and Sharon met on a blind date arranged by his sister Patti and her husband Mark Olson, and soon married and started their family in Visalia. Stan demonstrated his on going love of family by the attention he gave his wife and children, as well as his parents. In 1975, Stan developed a family farming partnership called Five Way Farms with his brother Greg, brother-in-law, Mark Olson, uncle, Jerry Frazee, and cousin, Mark Frazee. His father Charles was his field man while his mother Hazel assisted in the bookkeeping. After leaving his sales position at Nash De Camp in Visalia, Stan developed his own fruit sales company, Visalia Produce Sales, Inc. in February 1988. His staff was an integral part of his business success and a part of his trusted family who had looked forward to his return to work. Stan also served on the Shippers Advisory Committee of the California Table Grape Commission and was a founding member and then Board member of the Bank of Visalia (Valley Business Bank). Stan is survived by his wife Sharon; children, Stephanie and Adam; sister Patti Olson and her husband Mark; father-in-law, Max Mason; sister-in-law, Susan Steele and her husband Mike; brother-in-law, Max Mason, Jr. and his partner Drew; nieces, Erin, Alissa and Jocelyn; nephews, Eric and his wife Stephanie, Chas Shamoon, and many other relatives. Remembrances may be made to Catholic Charities, 149 N. Fulton St., Fresno, CA 93701. To share condolences and sign the guest book please visit Farewell's website. FAREWELL, 660 W. My love and prayers go out to Stan's, wife, children,Patti (his sister) and to all relatives and friends. I had the priviledge of knowing this man from high school and working at Nash De Camp with him. I was in the Reedley office while he was in the main office on Shirk in Visalia. He is one of the kindest man that I have ever known. He will be missed so very much. He truly was a special person and a great additon to the human race. RIP Dear Stan. God be with your family in this time of sorrow.

Coach Shamoon was my Little League coach when I was 12 and he was one of my favorite coaches growing up. He taught me how to have fun and enjoy the game of baseball. My condolences to his family.

I was so very saddened to read of Stan's passing in the Visalia paper. I will always remember Stan as extremely funny, very kind, caring, decent and just one of those all around great guys. When they say "Only the good die young", sadly Stan is now part of that group that are gone way before their time. My sympathies to his wife Sharon, his children and to Patti. I know that he will be sorely missed.

I worked with Stan at Nash de Camp at the office when it was on Shirk. He was always laughing and pulling jokes on people. I was so suprised to see the obituary as we are the same age. My condolences to his wife and children.
