Thomas John Moholt November 14, 1942 - January 26, 2012 Thomas John Moholt, 69, of Visalia passed away January 26, 2012 from a stroke. Tom was born on November 14, 1942 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Mary and Perry Moholt. He was raised in various towns in Montana and graduated from high school in Great Falls, MT. Tom majored in English at the College of Great Falls, where he graduated at age 20. From there, he completed law school at the University of Montana at age 23. Shortly after law school, Tom joined the Air Force and went into the Judge Advocate General Corps. During his 25 years of service, Tom was stationed at various U.S. and overseas bases. In 1970, Tom married Barbara Herrington. Together, they had a daughter, Cassandra. In 1990, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and married Margaret, the love of his life, and became a father to Mary. Later that year, they moved to Visalia where Tom continued his career with the District Attorney and retired as a Public Defender in 2003. Not being one for retirement, Tom took a contract as a conflict interest attorney serving in Child Welfare Services cases. Tom was known to us as the Iron Man with Twinkle Toes. He climbed Mt. Whitney three times and was an avid cyclist. In 2001, Tom rode 500 miles in five days across Montana with AIDS Vaccines Rides. With Margaret, he was a member of a ballroom dancing club where they made many great friends. Tom was a crossword puzzle whiz and a voracious reader. He recently returned to the sport of tennis and enjoyed mighty power hikes. His other sports included running, squash, and racquetball. A great conversationalist with many interests, Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick dry wit. He loved Margaret's cooking, convertibles, wine, stale donuts, and Cheetos. Tom and Margaret decided to make Visalia their permanent home due to all of their special and loving friends. He is predeceased by his father, Perry.
