Thomas E. Lawson Thomas E. Lawson, 88, of Visalia passed away at home on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012. Born in Madill, OK, Nov. 27, 1924, he was the youngest last surviving child of John L. and Alice N. Lawson. Tom graduated from Visalia Union High School, joined the Navy and toured the South Pacific during WWII. He owned Hills Nursery for many years, a whole sale plant nursery, servicing several flower shops from Fresno to Porterville. Tom and his wife of 44 years Joan Lawson, enjoyed retirement together, RV traveling, attending their granddaughters sports activities and belonging to the San Joaquin Valley Garden Railway Society. Besides his wife, Tom is survived by: step-daughters Joanie Gray-Constable (John Stobbe) and Karen Gray-Leach (Larry); granddaughters Vanessa Alford-Pierson (Adam), Kristen Alford, and Kim Alford-Grinder (Joel); and two great-granddaughters. Tom is also survived by children from a previous marriage: Elaine and Steve Lawson. Another son Craig Lawson preceded him in death. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Tom will be dearly missed by many who loved him. In lieu of flowers the family requests charitable donations be sent to Kaweah Delta Hospice. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec 1, 2012 at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno.
