Tyler Murphy Tyler John Murphy died peacefully in his sleep on June 14, 2012, most likely from a seizure. He was born on December 17, 1986 to Becky (Mesedahl) Murphy and John P. Murphy in Modesto, CA. He was baptized in St. Stephens Lutheran Church on St. Patrick's Day in 1987. Tyler attended elementary school in Strathmore and graduated from Exeter Union High School in 2005. He continued his education at both College of the Sequoias and Porterville Junior College. He wanted a career either in the military or in law enforcement, but was unable to pursue them because of various medical problems. A "jack of all trades" he worked in a variety of jobs, locally as well as in Washington and Nevada. Although trained as a Cisco computer tech, he also did long haul trucking. Making friends came easily to Tyler and he never lost touch with any of them. When he was young he remarked, "A stranger is just a friend that I haven't met yet." This characterized his life. Tyler's friends are all ages and come from all walks of life. He brightened any room he walked into because he usually had something funny to say. He delivered his jokes with a straight face followed by a smirk, and was well known for being a prankster. While attending Wilson Middle School Tyler was selected to be a Peer Mediator, a councelor for his peers. He took this job very seriously and never divulged private conversations. Over the years Tyler's friends continued to seek him out to mediate a situation because they valued his opinions and objectivity. From a very young age he wore cowboy boots and hat no matter what the activity. Tyler enjoyed a variety of hobbies including four-wheeling, traveling, reading, football, horseback riding and karaoke. He seemed most happy when he was working on his vehicle or helping a buddy with theirs. He moved people so frequently it could be considered another past time of his. Being with friends is what Tyler loved most. He will be missed by many. Tyler is survived by his mother, Becky Murphy of Exeter, his father, John Murphy of Lindsay, his sister Jennifer Murphy, nephew Logan Tilley, and grandfather Clifford Mesedahl, all of Strathmore, various family members in Granada Hills and Yuba City, CA as well as England, Florida, Washington, Colorado, Nebraska, and Minnesota. Tyler's memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church located at 3830 W. Tulare Ave in Visalia on Saturday June 23rd at 10:00 am. Per Tyler's request his final resting place will be alongside his grandma Ruth Mesedahl at North Trinity Church in Nash, ND.
