Delia Flores Vaca 9/4/31-3/16/14 Mama was born on September 4th, 1931, in Jalpa Zacatecas, Mexico. She was the fourth of ten children born to Nicolas and Aurelia Flores. She is survived by her husband John, three children, John Jr., Sylvia, William, two sisters Olivia, Alicia, four brothers Jose, Abel, Guillermo, Humberto, and nine grandchildren. Mom entered the United States at age 17, in 1949. She learned English, became an American citizen and never looked back. Never a quitter, always positive, she made the best of any situation, be it yours or hers. Mom had gifts, she was a magician. Somehow with limited resources, she could do wondrous things. From a seemingly empty fridge, she would prepare you a great meal. And with just a hammer or screwdriver, she could fix everything. And when you were sick, you saw the American doctor, but when you got home, you still received mom's Mexican folk remedies and loving medicine that only she could give. But mom's greatest gift and her joy, was to care for you and yours; family or neighbor. If your spouse was ill, she was there to help. If you could not care for your child or grandchild, she would be there for you. When mom received her inheritance, she did not spend it on herself, she gave it away. Mom you taught us all that it is better to give than to receive. So from papa, and all the family we say, "Si vivo cien anos, cien anos pienso en ti" The immediate family would like to thank Dr. Arnold Welden for his compassionate care and kindness. And to the extended family that filled our mother's room with love and prayer, we thank you all.
