Madeline Leikam Madeline Leikam passed away peacefully on April 30, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born in Louisburg, Missouri on April 28, 1922 to Virginia and Percy Thornbury. At the age of 6, the family moved to Farmersville, CA. She graduated from Visalia Union High school and attended College of the Sequoias in business. While working for Ruddy's Credit Union as the business manager, she met her future husband, John Leikam, on a blind date. They were married in 1951 and built their house in Visalia and raised their daughter, Johnette (Johni). Madeline lived there until approximately four years ago when illness forced her to move to Magnolia Park for further care. Recently her husband joined her there so they were able to spend the last few weeks together. Madeline enjoyed family first, she was an active member at the First Baptist Church, and she enjoyed annual trips to Cayucos with her family, golf trips with John and friends, and family visits in Missouri. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother and spending time with her two grandchildren. Madeline will be remembered for her generous giving spirit and her devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her brother Larry and sister, Sharon Thornbury. She is survived by her husband, John, daughter Johni and husband, Jeff Peterson, and two wonderful grandchildren, Ryan and Taylor Peterson. She also leaves behind two brothers, Paul and Charles Thornbury, a sister Marilyn Swanson (Tom), and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on May 9th, 2014 at 1 PM at the Visalia Cemetery Pavilion.
