Raymond Contreras Sr. Raymond Contreras Sr., died Friday, June 13, 2014 at the age of 67 after a long illness with his family by his side in Visalia, CA. He was born September 1, 1946 in Hanford, Ca. to Henry and Jesse Contreras. He attended James Marshall Elementary, John.C. Fremont Jr. High, Fowler High School, and Fresno City College. Raymond was drafted into the United States Army in October, 1966; he did a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 and was discharged on October, 1972. Raymond achieved the rank of SP5 E-5. Raymond met his wife Yolanda Duran in elementary school and they started dating when Yolanda was in high school and married on May 24, 1969. To this union a son was born - Raymond Contreras Jr. Raymond lived in San Diego CA, Fowler, CA, and after marriage Ray and Yolanda moved to San Jose, CA. In 1990 they moved to Visalia, CA. Raymond enjoyed life; he was an avid sports fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. He had a dedicated sports room in his home of 49ers and Giants memorabilia. He coached little league baseball and MJB basketball. Raymond loved to fish and enjoyed spending time with his family, loved to travel, especially to the beach and had a passion for cooking! He is survived by his wife Yolanda, Son Ray Jr. (Corina), and 3 grandchildren (Christina Shannon, Melina Contreras, and Alonzo Contreras); three brothers Roy (Rita), Ernie (Becky) and John Contreras, five sisters (Carmen Gomez (Richard), Rosie Guerra, Rachel Lopez (Mike), Margie Reyes, & Ruby Parra); and his faithful friend dog (Cooper), along with a host of nieces and nephews and other family members. Raymond's parents preceded him in death along with a brother (Andy) and Sister (Joyce). A Public Viewing will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment immediately following at Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave. The family requests all flowers and sympathy cards be sent to Salser & Dillard Funeral Home. Arrangements are with Salser & Dillard Funeral Home, 127 E.
