Mary Rosario Fernandez Mary Rosario Fernandez, 69, of Woodlake, California passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 in Woodlake, California. Mary was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 11, 1944 to Moises Valles and Angele Lopez Valles. She was raised and educated in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mary and her family moved to California in 1963. In 1979 she moved to Woodlake to make her home and raise her children. She attended Woodlake Christian Center of Woodlake and enjoyed attending Bible Study on Wednesday evenings. Mary worked for Woodlake School District in the cafeteria as a Cook for over seventeen years. She had a kind heart and made sure that the children who could not afford it had a good nutritious lunch. Mary enjoyed sewing, making clothing for her daughter Lisa and her grandchildren as well as doll clothes. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling to her original home in Texas. In November of 2013, her children took her on a trip, visiting the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Las Vegas. Mary was strong willed, independent, selfless and caring and spent many hours gathering for needy. She loved her children and sacrificed her own needs to be sure they had what they needed. Mary cherished times spent with her family, and especially loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all Mary loved her Lord and patterned her life after Him. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Tommy Valles of Visalia, Carlos Fernandez, Jr. of Los Banos, CA and James Fernandez of Visalia; her daughter Lisa Fernandez of Visalia, her brother, Moises Valles, Jr. of Woodlake, CA; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 5 - 7 pm at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel of Visalia. Burial will follow at Woodlake Cemetery.
