Leo Kinder Obituary
Leo Kinder Leo E. Kinder, a longtime resident of Tulare, passed away July 17, 2014 at the age of 81. He was born on September 17, 1932 in Sturkie, Arkansas. After serving in the Army from 1953-1955 Leo moved his young family to Corcoran, California. They resided there for 10 years while he was employed by Don Keith Trucking. After the family's move to Tulare in 1965 he continued in the trucking profession and was employed by Nielsen's Creamery, Kings County Truck Lines, Souza's Milk Transportation and after retirement Silver Arrow Express, Inc. It was during his military service in Colorado Springs, Colorado, that he met and married his wife Dorothy. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage and raised three children. Leo was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. He took great pride in caring for his home and his beloved roses. Leo was known for his story telling and jokes and everyone he met was entertained by his humor. He was a quiet man who listened more than he talked and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He had a strong faith in God and was a living example to all whose lives he touched. In addition to his wife Dorothy, Leo is survived by two sons, Greg Kinder of Bakersfield, California and Donald R. Kinder of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter, Cheryl and husband Tim Johnson of Visalia, California; six grandchildren, Gregory Kinder Jr., Christina Kinder, Alicia Nunes, Victoria Parreira, Derrick Franks and Raegan Franks; two step-grandchildren, Ashley Cox and Jason Johnson; six great grandchildren, Makyden Parreira, Camden Kinder, Balin Franks, Weston Nunes, Hansen Parreira and Ainzley Nunes. He is also survived by four sisters, Vera Bassham and Lenore Coleman of Salem, Arkansas, Joyce Holloway of West Plains, Missouri and Janice Booth of Ash Flat, Arkansas; two brothers, Rollin Kinder and Gaylon Kinder of West Plains, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Grace Kinder and five brothers, Paul Dean Kinder, Boyd Kinder, Neal Kinder, Lowell Kinder and Bobby Kinder. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Tulare First Baptist Church, 469 Cherry St., Tulare. Arrangements are by Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service.
