David Myers Obituary

Rev. David Myers Rev. David Myers, born to Norman and Dorothy Myers in L.A., California on May 24, 1945, was taken home on November 17, 2012. He has planned for this journey to Heaven for quite some time. While he was with us, one of his greatest joys was talking to others about the Word of God. David was a master at asking biblical questions just to make one think and want to dig deeper into God's Word. "Willing" is a word that would describe David. While he was never one to ask for help, David would often travel to pray with someone else in need. He was never too busy or too tired to help someone else. Material things were never important to him, but David was rich in laughter, the ability to listen to others, and the desire to help people who were hurting. If David was missing from a family gathering, everyone wanted to know where he was. Young and old alike felt love and comfort just being around him. David leaves behind a blessing in his wonderful wife of 46 years, Carolyn, who worked alongside him. Every year they planted a huge garden and canned the fruits of their labor together. Carolyn and David have 4 sons, Shawn, Shannon, Shane, and Shammoth, all of whom live locally. There was a friendly banter among the boys about who would one day get the family's modest country home they called "the empire." David and Carolyn also have one daughter, Tammy Estes, of Visalia. Their grandchildren includes 5 boys and 5 girls, and just recently, a great-granddaughter was added to the family. Nobody will ever be able to fill the void left by their papa, but he leaves behind the greatest legacy: Nothing is more precious than your relationship with Jesus. It permeates every other relationship. These are the things that really matter in this life and will ultimately give lasting peace when we leave this earth. Please join with us at Faith Tabernacle, Exeter on Friday November 23, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. as we celebrate the wonderful memories David left behind and our peace in knowing his journey is over and he is now home. Condolences may be made at www.smithfamilychapel.com. Arrangements are by Smith Family Chapel, Exeter.

My prayers go to Davids family, though it's been many years, I fondly remember David and the humor and good times that he brought to police work. He obviously had a higher calling.
