Edwin Sibbet Jr. Obituary
Edwin Louis Sibbet Jr. Aviation Technician Edwin (Ed / Eddie) Louis Sibbet Jr. was born on July 30, 1919 in New Jersey and passed on December 8, 2012 in Visalia, CA, at the age of 92. He was a Naval Veteran serving in both WWII and the Korean War. Ed was also a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Attack when the U.S.S. Lexington he was serving on was hit and downed on that historical day. He had many stories to share from that event in his life. After his military life he worked as a flight mechanic and an oncology equipment technician. After retirement Edwin tried his hand at raising parakeets in Aromas, CA. After a few years he eventually made the decision to relocate to Visalia with his wife Velma. Beyond this Ed had a love for fishing, the coast and animals, especially birds and dogs. In his earlier years he was known for his "green thumb" and could be found working in the yard planting or transplanting something. Ed had a special fondness for cactus and succulents. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his former wife Rita. His step-daughter Judy Lourenco also preceded him in death. Ed is survived by his wife Velma Sibbet, step daughter Charlene Brazil, grandchildren Lena Cox, Sheri Monroe and Patrick Tazio who he raised as his own and four beautiful great granddaughters who he loved. Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012, 10:30 AM at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel. Private burial. Condolences may be e-mailed to info@salseranddillard.com
