John Schott Jr. Lambert "John" Schott Jr., age 79, passed away January 19, 2013. He was born in Tulare, California to Lambert "Blue" and Vera Schott and has been a resident of Tulare County for 79 years. John began farming in the Tipton area at a very young age and had many friends in the farming community. He attended Tulare Union High School, class of 1952. On June 23, 1961 he married Barbara Faye Rother and they made their home in Tipton, California where they raised their four children. John was a very devoted husband and loving father. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and a veteran of the Korean War. He was thoughtful and kind to all. He devoted his life to his family and always found time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. On weekends he could often be found at a ball game, a local movie theatre, fishing in the Sierra Nevadas, or dining with family and friends. John is survived by two sons, Jack York of Pixley and Bryan Schott of Tulare; two daughters, Cindy Sprague and husband Mike of Tulare and Rebecca Rhoades of Visalia; one sister, Brenda Hensley of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Schott; one brother, David Schott of Redding; three sisters, Susie Johnson of Tulare, Bootsie Rogerro of Tipton and Tootie Betzold of Tipton. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 am, Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church, 232 S. Adams Rd. in Tipton. Tipton-Pixley Cemetery will be John's final resting place.
