Grace Cortez Grace was born in McAllen, Texas on September 14, 1950 and passed away on February 3, 2013 in Visalia, where she lived since 1973. As a youth, she attended Lindsay schools. She graduated from Lindsay High School in 1969 and College of the Sequoias in 1971. For several years, Grace worked as a Claims Representative at the Social Security Administration Office in Visalia. Grace is remembered as a caring, generous person who was always very supportive to her family and friends. She was known for her strong convictions, especially those related to human rights. An avid cook, she also loved to write and discuss politics and economics. She is survived by her mother, Domitila, five siblings: Olga, Paula, Gloria, Trini, and Robert. She is preceded in death by her father, Trinidad, and brother, Gerardo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Webb Sanders Funeral Home, 163 S. Mirage Ave., in Lindsay, CA 93247. A wake is also scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on February 7. Graveside services will be performed on Friday, February 8, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Lindsay-Strathmore Public Cemetery, 639 S. Foothill, Lindsay, CA 93247. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Grace be made to the local chapter of the .
