Virginia Kilgore Obituary
Virginia D. Kilgore Virginia Dare Milligan Kilgore, 90, of Visalia was born November 29, 1922 in Direct, Texas and left her earthly home on February 5, 2013, to reunite with her family and friends in Heaven. She was born to C.C. and Beulah Milligan, the third of four siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mary Lou Smith, and Helen Dill and Woodrow Milligan, her adored older brother. In December of 1939, she married Troy M. Kilgore. He preceded her in death in 1973. Virginia was born into a Christian home and accepted the Lord at an early age. She was a faithful member of Woodville Baptist Church for 15 years before moving to Visalia and becoming a charter member of Faith Baptist Church. She devoted many hours of service to her Lord and church family in numerous ministries. She was a Godly woman who prayed and studied her Bible daily, and taught her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren about The Lord. Virginia had a creative, artistic side that few people were aware of. She was a writer of poetry and kept detailed, informative and sometimes humorous diaries. Her love of flowers and gardening gave her the opportunity to have bouquets of fresh flowers in her house. She loved birds and spent many hours watching them at her back yard feeder, especially the doves. She was a farmer's wife with all the chores that it entailed and later went into Avon sales winning numerous awards. She was very proud of being a continuing member of the Avon Presidents Club. Her greatest joy though was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. There was never a doubt in anyone's heart how much they where loved, for she demonstrated it daily by her actions and unceasing prayers. She is survived by her three daughters, Jackie Altermatt (Ron); Jan Worthington (Dave); and Lana Duerksen. Her grandchildren: Lisa Gray (Jake) children Cody and Hunter; Darron Altermatt (Sherie) children Broghan and Luke; Amanda Stannard (Jeff) children Milligan, Griffin and Bennett Capson; and Chandler Worthington. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. There is now and will always be a place in our hearts and lives that no one else will ever fill. We rejoice in the knowledge that she will be able to run to us and welcome us with open arms in Heaven. Services will be held at Faith Baptist Church of Visalia on Monday, February 11th, 2013 at 12 noon. Visitation will be held at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel Sunday, February 10th, 2013 from 11-2 p.m. Private family burial Condolences may be e-mailed to
