Eric John De Groot Student Eric John De Groot, 21 years old, of Tulare passed away after a tragic accident on August 19, 2013 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born on March 3, 1992 in Visalia, CA. He was the youngest son of Ken and Jeannette De Groot. His siblings are: Alicia and Randy Vander Tuig, David and Alison De Groot, Kristin and Tim Zietlow, and Lauren and Karl teVelde. Eric was an uncle to 5 nieces and 5 nephews; Renee, Ryan, Natalie, Jenna, and Sydney Vander Tuig, Hudson and Jase De Groot, Anna Zietlow, and Logan and Russell Te Velde--all who loved him very much. His surviving grandmothers are Oma Alice Oosterhof and Grandmother Helen De Groot. Eric graduated from Central Valley Christian High School in 2010. He attended Calvin College and was to be a senior. He was studying to be a mechanical engineer, currently employed as an intern at Innotech in Zeeland, MI. He designed machines to manufacture car accessories. He was brimming with life in all that he did. He enjoyed playing basketball and golf in high school. He loved growing up on the dairy and being with the cows. He loved hiking, going to the beach, and most recently he traveled to Europe with his college friends. Coming home to the valley and spending time with his friends was always a highlight. He was always a big part of family functions, never wanting to miss out. Eric loved God, loved his family, and loved his friends. He will be dearly missed but we know we will see him again in Heaven. Eric is best described under Ephesian 4: 1-5. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 23, 2013, at Visalia First Christian Reformed Church, 1030 S. Linwood. Private burial.
