Archie Douglas Miller Archie Douglas Miller (Doug) was born in Lindsay, California to his loving parents Archie and Josephine Miller on September 20, 1936. He ascended to greet his Lord and Savior, Jesus on September 19, 2013, one day before his seventy-seventh birthday. He attended Woodlake Elementary and Woodlake High School, graduating in 1955. He had a strong interest in sports, especially the basketball and track teams. He went on to attend COS before joining the Army. He served as an MP and prison guard in Stuttgart, Germany. Returning to the U.S., he married the love of his life, Bonnie Root, on June 1, 1962. Doug worked as a fireman and paramedic for the city of Alhambra for twelve years. He was very proud of having helped save several lives while with the department. Doug and Bonnie came to Visalia with their two sons, living here for a number of years. They then went on to Tehachapi in 1987 where they both began careers as correctional officers at California State Correctional Institution at Tehachapi. Doug retired from CCI Tehachapi in 2005. Their favorite Bible verse Phil 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me," helped them face many trials and strengthened their love for one another. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Josephine Miller, his son, Greg and brother-in-law, Ralph Denton. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Miller; his sister Barbara Denton, his brother, Jerry Miller, his son, Doug Miller and Doug's wife Sandra, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bill Rigg, grandchildren, Becky and Andrew Mathis, Brittany Miller, Cody and Taylor Miller, Israel Meir, Elisha Gutierrez, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug's life was celebrated by a memorial service at Country Oak Baptist Church and burial at Bakersfield National Cemetery. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
