Duane Pyle Obituary

Duane Edward Pyle, Sr.
1934 - 2017

Duane Edward Pyle, Sr., went into the Lord's presence Tuesday morning, April 11, 2017, after being admitted to St. Mary Regional Hospital in Apple Valley, CA. Born in Los Angeles, California, Duane was raised in Compton and Ventura, CA. Later he resided in Westminster, Long Beach and Cerritos. He also owned a home in Hesperia, CA, in order to be close to family. Duane and his brother Delbert were the sons of Sanford and Ida Irene Pyle. He graduated from Compton High School and Compton Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree. Duane worked for North American Aviation, also known as Rockwell International and Boeing Aircaraft Corporation, from 1955 to 1994 in the data management/contract department. He reviewed supplier proposals, fact finding and negotiated data cost for the Saturn, Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. He also served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct and Sharp Shooter medals. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and his daughter Deanie Marie Pyle. Duane is survived by his four children: Duane Pyle, Jr., and his wife Cherry of Lake Stevens, WA; Daniel Pyle, Sr., of Hesperia, CA; Denise Lee and her husband Derral of Apple Valley, CA; and Catherine Pyle of Hesperia, CA. Duane is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Veronica and Joshua Pyle of Lake Stevens, WA; Daniel, Jr., David and his wife Aleigh, Darien, Dayna and Desiree Pyle of Hesperia, CA: Stephanie, Jennifer and Bradley Lee of Apple Valley, CA; and Crystina and Aimee Pyle of Hesperia, CA. He was also blessed with six great grandchildren: Nathaniel, Landen, Lilly, Sophia, Julissa, and Aubree, plus two more on the way. Duane is also survived by Patricia Pyle, his ex-wife, whom he remained close to, and his two nephews, Jim Pyle and his wife Barbara and their children, Jenna and Kelly, and Jeff Pyle and his wife Debby and their children, Joshua and Rachael, along with many friends who were an important part of his life. Duane was active in church activities and an avid softball player, traveling all over the United States participating in local leagues and travel teams. In 1999 his team placed fourth in the Senior Softball World Series in Tallahassee, FL. He loved reading and quiet times in the local library, along with times at the beach and traveling the world. His love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren knew no bounds, and made great efforts to spend as much time with them as possible. A memorial service for Duane will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 6, at Jubilee Community Church, 9608 I Avenue in Hesperia, with Pastor Ray Gemme officiating. A private family internment will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary in Apple Valley, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, Prostate Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice in Duane's memory.

Our condolences to Mr. Pyle's family, a great neighbor, remembering you always walking with your grandchildren or driving your grandchildren all over the place. You did lots for those children. I'm sure the memories will never leave their hearts. Rest in Peace Duane, and peace to your family is our prayer.
