Rev. Dr. Bertram James Card April 4, 1926 - June 15, 2016 Rev. Dr. Bertram James Card of Silver Lakes went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2016. He was born on April 4, 1926 to Bertie George and Lilian Leticia Card in Newport, Mon, Great Britain. He served in the Royal Army From 1943 through 1948. He was conscripted to work in the coal mines as a Bevin Boy until he was released back to the army due to damage to his eyesight. It was there that he met and married Betty Card. They came to America in 1958 on the Queen Elizabeth 2. He worked for Southern California Edison Company in Rosemead and San Bernardino until he retired in 1981. He was called to the ministry and served the Lord with his whole heart until his passing. He received his Doctorate in Theology from Laud Hall Seminary in 1999, after his wife of 48 years passed away the previous year. He found love again, marrying Polly Ann Carroll in 2003 and they enjoyed the arts and traveling together. He is survived by his wife, Polly Ann, his 5 children David (June) Card, Tony Card, Peter Card, Kathy (Bill) Goodban and Barry (RaNea) Card. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by step sons Chris (Linda) Carroll, and Greg (Mary) Carroll. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Card, daughter-in-law Susan Card and step son Jeff Carroll. Services will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Evergreen Lutheran Church, 9526 Vinton Rd., Phelan, California. Viewing at 10:00 am, Service at 11:00 am with interment at Montecito Memorial Park at 2:00 pm.

Chavez, Nestor Lucero - Victorville  
Nestor Lucero Chavez May 17, 1928 - June 20, 2016 Nestor Lucero Chavez, 88, of Victorville, California passed away June 20, 2016 at home with his family by his side. He is now in the hands of our Lord our Father. Nestor was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was married to Stella Elycio Chavez for 63 years. He worked at Riverside Cement Plant for 33 years as a crusher operator. Nestor is survived by his wife Stella; his seven children Louise Gutierrez, Remy Chavez, Lina Lou Robinson, Ralph Chavez, Loriann Drozd, Julie Waldrum and Rebecca Chavez; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Nestor was preceded into Heaven by his 2 brothers Joe and Fred Chavez; his father and mother in-law Lino and Maria Elycio; and his sister-in-law Betty Griego. Visitation will be held at Desert View Funeral Home on June 28, 2016 from 4pm-8pm. Rosary at 6pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church at 10am on June 29, 2016 with burial to follow.

Cordova, Paul W.*  
Paul W. Cordova February 8, 1974 - May 27, 2016 Born February 8, 1974. Entered into Heaven on May 27, 2016. Paul is survived by his dad Joe Cordova; mom Dora Nunziata; daughters Larissa Cordova and Jaz-Lynn Cordova; son Paul Cordova Jr. and sisters Sabrina Bernal (Sonny), Cindy Gallegos (Phil), Tracie Cordova, and many nephews and nieces. Paul was greeted into Heaven by his brother Kenny Cordova. Paul loved spending time with his kids, he also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working construction with his brother and listening to music. Paul was a very kind-hearted man. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Gone, but never forgotten. Celebration of Paul's life will be held on June 22, 2016 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 1320 Barstow Rd., with reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
