CAROL JEAN (WHITE) SCISSEL 9/3/1942 - 10/26/2013 The valley lost a treasure early Saturday morning. Carol went to her Heavenly home after a long battle with cancer. She fought the good fight to the end. Born in Wyoming, Iowa, raised in Alhambra, CA; she graduated from Alhambra High in 1960. Carol moved to the high desert in 1968 and began a life-long quest for knowledge. She earned her Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D degrees and became one of the valleys foremost teachers in many areas of the valley. Those blessed enough to have learned under her will never forget the lasting lessons she passed on. She made learning fun and meaningful. She was preceded in death by her partner, Sandee Connerly and Sandee's two sons, David and Danny. She is survived by her children, Karen Gamel, Seattle, WA; Susan Purvis (Steve) of Victorville CA. Susan's family, Heather Marinez (James) of Apple Valley; Kasey Moore, Victorville; Katie Moore, Victorville; son Mike Scissel (Bobby) of Apple Valley. Mike's family, Ashly James, Apple Valley; great-grand-children, Korey James, Adrina James, Kristopher James and Kaylee James, Ayden Marinez, all of Apple Valley. She leaves many friends and extended family to cherish her memory and to reflect on the wisdom she imparted to all of us with her great sense of humor; including her former husband and dear friend, Gary Scissel and his family. Carol loved Laughlin, NV and video poker, hosting many outings there with family and friends over the years. She loved her family above all and would do anything for those she loved. She taught us what true unconditional love was all about. Special thanks to Charter Hospice for the great care they gave Carol and to the angel God sent to be her daily caregiver, Sheila Sierra. How Carol loved all of you. Please join us in celebrating her remarkable life with services Saturday November 2 at 12:00 noon at Victor Valley Mortuary, 15609 11th, Victorville 92392.
