CHARLES STEPHEN GRAHAM 5/5/1930 - 7/12/2013 Charles (Chuck) Graham 83, of Barstow, CA, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013 at home with his family by his side. No words can completely express how much he loved his family and that love was given to us unconditionally on a daily basis through his words of wisdom and acts of tenderness. Nothing put a smile on his face more than the sight of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is missed deeply but will never be forgotten by any of the many lives he touched, as his spirit is free to watch over us all. He was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and an avid 49ers fan. He enjoyed playing golf occasionally and watching it on TV, camping being involved in off road racing, going to MLB games, road trips to explore this great country of ours and was a thoughtful and nurturing Boy Scout and Sea Scout Leader. He was a very proud veteran of the United States Navy
and following his retirement from the Navy he worked civil service in a career that spanned 31 years and covered numerous fields of expertise, including logistics and managing inventories or medical supplies and equipment for Navy medical ships deployed out to sea. After retiring from civil service he opened the next chapter of his life, with volunteer work, where he would join the Barstow Police Department's RSVP program for 10 year where he received numerous awards, and commendations, ultimately becoming Commander of the program. He was also a long time member of Senior Circle, where he was on the advisory board, helping to put together the news letter, planning monthly events, volunteering at the blood drive and, of course, calling bingo at the monthly birthday bingo events. He is preceded in death by his brother Ron of Redding, CA.; his sister Joann of Montesano, Wa; and his son, Michael of Hawaii. He is survived by the mother of their 3 children, Joy Graham, his daughters, Pamela Matteson (Tom) of Barstow, Terri Matteson (Matt) of Barstow, his son, David of Barstow, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. As was his wish, he will be cremated and will receive a United States Navy burial at sea. Memorial services will be held at Mead Mortuary in Barstow on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his name to the ASPCA to help neglected animals.
