Ercil E. Hartman

ERCIL E. HARTMAN 3/9/1921 - 5/27/2013 Ercil E. Hartman, 92, of Ashland, Ohio passed away on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013. He was born March 9, 1921 in Richland County, Ohio to Rhea and George Hartman and spent his early years on a farm there. Born the oldest of five brothers survived by Gail and Jim both of Columbus and sister-in-law Lucy Hartman of Galion. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1939, and served as a fighter pilot with the Army Air Corp during WWII. After the war he graduated from Ohio State University and worked for NorthAmerican Aviation in Columbus, Ohio for 30 years. He retired and moved to Victorville, CA for 20 years and returned to Ashland, Ohio 9 years ago. "Curly" was married May 24, 1942 to the late Ruth Olberholtzer for 59 years. He is survived by his 4 children: Doug, Tom, Bill, and Patti; his 10 grand-children; and 8 great grandchildren. He will be laid to rest in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside California. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22nd, at 12:00 pm at Waverly Chapel at the Fairhaven Memorial Park. Donations may be given to either Hospice North Central Ohio or to the George and Rhea Hartman Education Scholarship Fund at Ashland University.
