HERMAN DIAZ BORRUEL 4/25/1931 - 2/24/2014 Herman Diaz Borruel passed away February 24, 2014 with his loving family by his side, in Apple Valley, California. Herman was born to Guadalupe Sr. and Constancia Borruel in Barstow California on April 25, 1931. He graduated from Barstow High School in 1948 and during that year as a senior he was president of the Los Amigos club. He joined the Navy from 1948 to 1953. He was involved in the European and Pacific Campaigns. Herman served two tours in the Korean War
. He was on the Navy basketball team and they had won a championship in the Philippines. Herman was honorably discharged from the Navy. He returned home and married Ms. Angelina Mendez on May 24, 1958 and had four children, Anthony Sr., Paul, Ralph and Veronica. He also played basketball for the City of Barstow in the 60's. Herman was employed with Santa Fe, Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, and NTC Ft. Irwin. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member with St. Joseph's and Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church (Apple Valley). His loved ones will never be able to replace the warm feeling of his embrace or the sound of his voice, but will always be comforted by his strength and wonderful memories he left behind. Herman was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Angelina, father, mother, brothers (Nicho, Albert, Guadalupe), sisters Nellie (Jess), Elpidia (John), and Paulina. He leaves behind his brothers, Andres (Shirley), Fidel (Elsie) and John Borruel, and sister in-laws Juanita and Virginia, his children Anthony (Geri), Paul (Kathleen), Ralph (Carol), and daughters Veronica and Tamara, his grandchildren Anthony Jr. (Cecila), Kammie (Frankie III), Kandace, Jeffrey (fiance Katie), Anissa, Monica, Angelica, Yvette (Patrick), Janna, Joseph, Steven (Trudy) and Danielle, his great-grandchildren Angelina, Bianca, Anthony, Frankie IV, Lilliana, Jacob, Gabriel, Dominic, Jeremiah, Ava, David, Elliana, Stephen, Azalia, Kennedy, Amber, and Amelia. Rosary: Thursday March 20, 2014 at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Funeral mass: Friday March 21, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church at 10 a.m. with burial to follow mass at Mt.
