Jo Ann Sommer

JOANN SOMMER 4/12/1935 - 10/28/2013 JoAnn Sommer was born in Huron, South Dakota to parents Gilbert and Josephine Close and married Jim Sommer in 1966. She was a travel agent for 25 years before retiring and moving to Apple Valley. Together, she and Jim traveled the world and especially loved Hawaii where they spent their honeymoon and returned many times. JoAnn made numerous friends in the travel industry and Sun City community where she lived. She enjoyed walking with friends, exercising regularly at the clubhouse, playing the piano, watching baseball games and spending time with Jim and her family. JoAnn is survived by her husband Jim, her son David (Sandy) Engstrand and Jim's three children: Marla Martin, Jimmy (Sharon) Sommer, and Craig Sommer; 4 grandchildren: Brenna, Dustin, Danny and Mike; 3 great-grandchildren: Peyton, Makenna and Makaila and sister Bonnie Camp of Vista, CA. A Remembrance of Life service will be held at Sunset Hills Chapel, 24000 Waalew Rd., Apple Valley on Saturday November 9, 2013 at 11:00am officiated by dear friends, pastor Glen and Nancy Warner of Ashtabula, Ohio.
