JOHN BYRON HAAS John Byron Haas, 69, returned to his Heavenly Father on Nov. 8, 2012 after a year-long, hard-fought battle with lung cancer. He was born Oct. 16, 1943 in Los Angeles to Ira John Haas and Mildred Pearl Brown. Predeceased by his parents, his sister Renee McGuire, and an infant son. Survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Elaine Haas; his seven children and their spouses: Julie Harrison (Kirt), Tim, Jamie (Danelle), Cody, Johnnie (KaRynn), Chris (Lyndsey), and Trever; as well as 12 grandchildren, his sister Susie, cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. John was an incredible, loving man who wasn't afraid to tackle any job. He served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1963. Afterwards, he married the love of his life, Elaine Owens, in Las Vegas, NV. He moved his family to Hesperia in 1975 and loved everything about the desert-even the wind. After joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he devoted his life to his family and his God, serving in many positions and living the principles he was taught. He retired from Southwest Gas Company in 2011. His family will miss him every day-his smile, his laughter, his hugs, his love of chocolate cake, his knowledge of how to fix anything, his insistence on Sunday family dinners, and especially his complete love and support. They are comforted knowing that they will be with him again one day. Funeral services will be held on Sat. Nov. 17 at 10 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 9533 Hickory Ave, Hesperia, CA 92345. The family will be in the Relief Society room at 9 am for those who would like to arrive early to offer condolences. Burial will immediately follow the service at Desert View Memorial Park on Amargosa Rd.
