Leopoldo Zavala

LEOPOLDO ZAVALA Leopoldo Zavala lost his battle with cancer on March 19, 2013. Leopoldo was born on April 27, 1950, in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico, but was a resident of Barstow since 1970. He worked as a laborer and most recently worked at Wal-Mart as an assembler. Leopoldo was a farmer, carpenter and mechanic. He was known for his generosity and strong Catholic faith. He took pride in being a great husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jeanie; children, Eusebio Zavala and his wife, Maricela, and Margie Najera and her husband, Robert; grandchildren, Isabel Zavala, Robert Najera, Joseph Najera and David Zavala; three sisters, five brothers as well as many nephews and nieces. Leopoldo was preceded in death by his son, Leopoldo Zavala Jr.; a brother, Ramiro Zavala; and his parents, Leopoldo and Loreto Zavala; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Torres. Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 505 East Mountain View in Barstow. A Rosary Vigil will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday March 24, 2013, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Monday March 25, 2013. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Memorial Services of Barstow.
