Melvin Harris

MELVIN HARRIS 9/20/1925 - 4/30/2014 Melvin D. Harris, 88, of McMinville, Oregon, died April 30, 2014 at his residence. A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, he was a resident of the Victor Valley for 6 years and of California for 60+ years before moving to Oregon where he spent the remainder of his life. Mel, as he was known to most, was a past president of the Oak Hills Property Owners Association and was instrumental in getting water and electricity to the Summit Terrace area of Oak Hills. Mel was also a realtor for Arrow West Properties and a salesperson for Cajon Summit Homes. Prior to moving to the High Desert he worked most of his life as a Machinist/Tool and Die maker while living for most of those years in North Long Beach, Ca. Mel was preceded in death by his wife Del Harris of Oak Hills. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara J. Benson of Branson, Mo. and three sons, Melvin L. Harris of McMinville Or., Gary E. Harris of Huntington Beach, Ca., and James B. Harris of Victorville, Ca.; one brother James L Harris of Cypress, Ca and sister Jean Roberts of Long Beach, Ca.; 14 grandchildren and over two dozen great grandchildren. Services will be held at New Life Chapel in Hesperia (date and time to be determined) and Internment will be in Desert View Memorial Park.
