Richard "Ricky B" Gene Baca 12/30/1955 ~ 2/4/2014 It is with great love that we share & celebrate the life of our "Ricky B," that began with his birth in Barstow on December 30, 1955. Richard was a lifetime resident here, with his schooling at Skyline, Barstow Middle & Barstow High School. As a young adult he worked at Fargo Gas Station in Barstow, Standard Gas Station in Yermo and Borax in Boron. He later worked as a skilled welder at the USMC Logistics Base in Yermo, retiring after 23 years of service. Richard attended Newberry Assembly of God, and was a man whose strength came from the Lord. As a husband, father & grandfather, he valued his role and strived to be the very best he could be. His special times included playing baseball (especially 3rd base,) along with golfing, gardening, celebrating major holidays and family barbeques in the backyard. His favorites also included watching "The Last Samurai," "Braveheart," "The Cooking Channel" and spending quiet time reading the bible. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Brenda (BJ) Baca, whom he married on September 23, 1977; a son Ryan Baca (wife Linda) of Las Vegas, NV., a daughter Brittney Baca (Brandan) of Barstow, granddaughter Daphne Baca of Las Vegas, NV., a mother Barbara Baca of Barstow, 4 sisters Sabra Marano of Red Bluff, CA., Ruppie Arreola, Patsy Baca & Brenda Guerrero all of Barstow, a brother Ronnie Baca of Yermo, CA., father/mother-in-law James & Sally Smyth of Lenwood, CA., brother/sister-in-law Mike & Pam Smyth of Indio, CA., and numerous nieces & nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his father Abilio Baca and brother-in-law Pat Smyth. A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Newberry Springs Assembly of God, 32582 Mountain View Road. Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Memorial Services of Barstow.
